Suffern, N.Y. - The Adelphi University golf team finished sixth at the 11-team Dominican College Charger Classic on Tuesday, October 15. The tournament was held at the Spook Rock Golf Course in Suffern, New York. The Panthers were led by junior Brant Kummerfeld (75-77 - 152), who finished in a tie for seventh place in the 54-player field, and senior Mauricio Saavedra (79-75 - 154), who finished in a tie for tenth place.

Host Dominican (302-312 - 614) captured the team title, edging Pace (313-304 - 617) by three strokes. Post (317-301 - 618) finished in third place, followed by Dowling (313-308 - 621), St. Thomas Aquinas (310-315 - 625) and Adelphi (312-315 - 627).

Brian Mackey (76-74 - 150) of Dominican, Mike Dominici (77-73 - 150) of Pace and Lee Wanklyn (78-72 - 150) of Post shared medalist honors among individuals.

Panther senior Jantzen Vargas (80-80 - 160) tied for 28th place, while freshman Matt Demeo (78-83 - 161) tied for 31st place and junior Oliver Hudesman (81-83 - 164) finished in 35th place.

Kummerfeld extended his run of top-ten finishes to five consecutive tournaments, including three top-five showings, while senior Mauricio Saavedra earned his second top-ten finish of the year, including a win at Army. Senior Jantzen Vargas saw his streak of twelve straight top-15 finishes come to an end but, has three top-ten and five top-15 showings to his credit this Fall.

Adelphi completes the regional competition portion of their Fall schedule with a 48-12 head-to-head record against district competition and a ranking of third overall in the Golfstat Northeast Region poll of October 12. The Panthers have a 49-12 head-to-head record against Division II competition and an overall 58-12 head-to-head record.

The Panthers close out the fall season on Friday, October 18, at the Mt. St. Mary's University Fall Classic at the Quail Valley Golf Course in Littlestown, Pennsylvania.
