Garden City, N.Y. - Adelphi University Director of Athletics Robert Hartwell announced the hiring of Tim McAleer as Head Golf Coach, effective July 30, 2008. McAleer is taking over a program that closed out the 2008 season ranked fifth in the NCAA Division II Northeast Region and reached as high as first. "I am very pleased to announce the hiring of Tim McAleer as our head golf coach," Hartwell said. "He will bring experience and maturity to our rapidly improving program. He understand the college athlete and has numerous contacts with pros that will ultimately help our students." McAleer, the Metropolitan New York Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) coordinator for officials, has been affiliated with such conferences as the Atlantic-10, the Patriot League and the Ivy League and the Northeast Conference and was the head golf coach at DRS Yeshiva High School for the past three years. He was also a member of the New York City Police Department for 23 years, earning the rank of Sergeant. |
