Nov. 19, 2007 GLASSBORO, NJ - Adelphi Men's and Women's Swimming traveled to Rowan University to compete in the Rowan Cup Races, an individual competition meet. Both posted excellent finishes, including 20 top ten finishes on the Men's team and 14 top ten finishes on the Women's team. The morning session began with strong performances in the 500-yard Freestyle by the Men's and Women's team. Thomas Eickelberg and Kristina Shine led the Panthers with a fifth and sixth place finish respectfully, followed by Tory Cozzi and James Yochim rounding out the top ten on the men's side and Kelly Mark finishing seventh in the women's race. Later that morning in the 100-yard Breaststroke, Zachary Terzano was able to break up a possible top three spot sweep by Merchant Marine Academy, and finish in third place. The Men's strongest finish of the meet would come in the 200-yard free style. Led by Terzano, the Panthers finished one, three and fourth. Later that day in the evening session, the Panthers returned to the pool with a tough showing the in the Men's and Women's 200-Yard Freestyle Relay, both teams posting top 10 finishes. Three events later, Alex Griffith's time was good enough for a third place finishing in the Men's 400-Yard IM. The Women had a strong showing by Shine and Jennifer Scarnati, placing fifth and sixth respectfully in the 200-Yard Backstroke. The Panthers finished the Rowan Cup with excellent performances in the 400-Yard Freestyle Relay and the 800-Yard Freestyle Relay, both men's and women's finishing in the top ten. Panther's swimming will return to action Thursday, November 29, when they host Lehman College at Historic Woodruff Hall, Garden City, New York. |
