Randall's Island, N.Y. - The Adelphi University track and field team traveled to Icahn Stadium on Randall's Island, New York on Saturday, May 10 to compete in the New Balance NYC Qualifying Challenge. The Panthers closed out the regular season strong as several athletes ran personal bests and Danielle Lyons posted an NCAA Division II National Championship qualifying time. Lyons led the way for the women as she was the first collegian across the line and fourth overall in the 800 meter run. The only collegiate athlete in the championship section, Lyons crossed the line in 2:14.47, bettering the NCAA Division II provisional mark of 2:15.00 and setting a new school record. Several men also ran well as Aaron Warner posted a personal best in the 800 meter run, 1:54.64, to finish 16th overall and lead three men under 1:58. Bailey Ince shattered his pervious collegiate best as he placed 24th overall in a time of 1:55.46 and Obed Bienne stopped the clock at 1:57.19, placing 28th. Sean Harte also closed out his season strong, placing 24th in the 1500 with a personal best time of 4:04.50. The Panthers will close out the season on Saturday, May 17 when they travel to Princeton, New Jersey to compete in the Division I ECAC/IC4A Outdoor Championships. |
