Bethpage, N.Y. - The Adelphi University cross-country team traveled to Bethpage State Park on Saturday, September 6 to compete in the 3rd Annual Hofstra Invitational. The women captured the team title with a perfect score of 15 points, followed by C.W. Post with 60 points and St. Joseph's College with 73. The men posted 17 points to pick up the victory, while St. Joseph's finished second (69) and Suffolk Community College (71) took home third. Ify Anene led the way for the women, picking up her third individual title in the past two seasons with a time of 19:38.97. She was followed by Danielle Matteo and Kristen Wojtuniak who crossed the line in 20:06.56 and 20:09.15 to pick up third and fourth. Kristin Eberhardt and Danielle Lyons rounded out Adelphi's top-five as Eberhardt placed fifth (20:59.02) and Lyons (21:00.62) took home sixth. Kristen Meyer and Catherine Connors also slipped into the top ten as Meyer (21:07.85) placed eighth and Connors finished 10th in 21:28.37. Adam Clark paced the men, as the Panthers secured spots one through four. Clark crossed the line in a time of 16:12.26, followed closely by Angel Ortega in 16:18.39. Ryan Pezzulo picked up third in 16:41.57, while Sean Harte placed fourth overall in 16:52.58. Jeff Perez rounded out Adelphi's top-five, stopping the clock at 17:17.75, finishing seventh overall. Tom Eickelberg and Bailey Ince also slipped into the top-10 as Eickelberg (17:34.66) took home ninth and Ince (17:42.59) followed in tenth. As a team the women picked up five of the first six places and eight of the first 11 spots. The men took the top four spots and managed to secure nine of the top-12 places. The Panthers return to action on Saturday, September 27 when they travel to Boston, Massachusetts to compete in the Codfish Bowl at Franklin Park. |
