Albany, N.Y. - The Adelphi University cross-country team traveled to Albany, New York on Saturday, October 18 to participate in the 42nd annual Albany Invitational. The women, the NCAA East Region's top ranked squad, placed 13th overall, while the men took home eighth, each team had one runner finish in the top-10. Ify Anene led the women, as the only school to put runners ahead of her was Brown University. Anene was the top Division II/III finisher, placing fourth overall in a new personal best of 18:02. Danielle Matteo and Catherine Connors also posted new personal bests, crossing the line in 59th and 67th. Matteo posted a time of 19:08, while Connors stopped the clock at 19:16. Kristen Meyer was the fourth Panther runner across the finish (106th) as she posted a time of 19:58, with teammate Jenilee Fuertes right behind her in 20:01, good enough for 111th place. Kristen Eberhardt and Heather Troutman, placed 130th (20:48) and 131st (20:55), while Margaret Penner picked up 136th (21:02) and Kaitlin Meyer was 148th (21:36). Courtney Bender rounded out Adelphi's competitor's with a 157th place showing, posting a time of 22:09. The men were led by Ryan Pezzulo, who finished ninth overall in a new personal best of 25:22 over the 8K course. Adam Clark and Angel Ortega finished 28th and 44th respectively with times of 25:51 and 26:04 as teammate Sean Harte crossed the line in 68th with a clocking of 26:30. Tom Eickelberg also had a strong run, finishing in the top-100 (93) with a personal best time of 26:54, as Steven Carey and Jeff Perez rounded out Adelphi's top-seven. Carey stopped the clock at 27:32, while Perez posted a time of 28:18. Adelphi returns to action on Saturday, October 25 when they travel to Sunken Meadow to take part in the East Coast Conference Championship meet. |
