Bronx, N.Y. - Defending conference men's co-champion and women's champion Adelphi University has been picked to repeat as East Coast Conference champions in a vote of league coaches released today. On the men's side, New Haven was picked to finish second with New York Institute of Technology picked third and C.W. Post fourth. On the women's side, New Haven was selected to take second place followed by C.W. Post in third and NYIT in fourth. The 2007 East Coast Conference Championship Meet will take place at Van Cortland Park in the Bronx on Sunday, October 21 with the women's race beginning at 10:00 a.m. followed by the men's competition at 11:00 a.m. Adelphi seniors Matt Dispensa (College Point, NY) and Danielle Connor (Lake Grove, NY) are the coaches' picks for preseason selections for Runners of the Year, respectively. Dispensa earned First Team All-Conference honors in 2006 with a third place finish at the ECC Championships. He went on to place 23rd at the NCAA Regional Championships and was later named ECC Men's Cross Country Scholar Athlete of the Year. Connor was a First Team All-ECC Runner in 2006, placing third at the conference championship. She went on to place 24th at the NCAA Regionals. 2007 ECC MEN'S CROSS COUNTRY PRESEASON POLL 1.
