Diana Lopez Named ECC Women's Lacrosse Scholar-Athlete of the Year

Garden City, N.Y. - Senior attack Diana Lopez (Farmingville, NY), a physical education and health major at Adelphi University, has been named the 2007 East Coast Conference Women's Lacrosse Scholar-Athlete of the Year, as voted by the league's coaches. Lopez maintained a 3.50 grade point average in addition to an impressive athletic resume.

Diana was a First Team All-ECC selection, as she scored 23 goals and had 32 assists for a total of 55 points during her senior campaign. Lopez also earned All-Region honors for the fourth consecutive season this year.

A number of ECC women's lacrosse student-athletes demonstrated excellence in the classroom and on the field during the 2007 season. The ECC 2007 Women's Lacrosse Honor Roll includes: Kim DeLorenzo, St. Thomas Aquinas College, junior; Lindsay Goldman, C.W. Post, senior; Jenny Griffin, University of New Haven, senior; Keri Leombruno, Molloy College, senior; and Brooke Woodland, Philadelphia University, junior.

About the ECC

The East Coast Conference was formed to enhance intercollegiate athletic competition among ECC member institutions and to assist them in integrating athletics into their academic program in a fiscally sound way. The ECC is committed to the highest standards of scholarship, sportsmanship, teamwork, and citizenship. Its mission is to promote the total person concept in its student-athletes which stresses the abilities to excel in academic achievement, athletic competition, and positive character traits.

Philadelphia University (PA), in women's lacrosse, and Dominican College (Orangeburg, NY) and Mercyhurst College (Erie, PA), in men's lacrosse, are associate members of the conference.
