Dobbs Ferry, N.Y. - The Adelphi University softball team swept Mercy College, 3-1 and 11-0 in a conference doubleheader this afternoon. The Panthers improve to 20-14 and 8-2 in the ECC, while the Mavericks fall to 6-13 and 2-6. The Panthers were led offensivley by senior Dely Francisco with four hits on seven at-bats with three runs scored and two stolen bases. Game One Senior Julie Schaper (9-2) allowed five hits with one run, one earned with one walk and 11 strikeouts. Adelphi had three runs on five hits with no errors. Mercy had one run on five hits with three errors. Game Two Freshman Leighann Bell (3-3) recorded the win, allowing two hits in 4.0 innings with no runs. Senior Samantha Tilton pitched one inning in relief for the save. Adelphi had 11 runs on 12 hits with on error. Merch had no runs on two hits with four errors. The Panthers return to action tomorrow, April 8, as they host Caldwell College at 3:00 p.m. |
