Game One|Game Two

Bronxville, N.Y. - The Adelphi University softball team swept Concordia College, 3-1 and 4-0 in a conference doubleheader this afternoon. The Panthers improve to 33-17 overall and 13-3 in the ECC, while the Clippers fall to 9-21.

Game One
Sophomore Katie Brophy scored on a single by senior Diana DiPiano to put the Panthers on board in the first inning. Brophy then followed up with a two RBI single in the second inning to make it 3-0. The Clippers prevented the shutout by taking advantage of a Panther error in the fifth inning to score an unearned run.

Senior Julie Schaper recorded the win on the mound, allowing six hits and three walks while fanning 10.

Game Two
Junior Jessica Vogt doubled to start the second inning, setting up the sac fly by freshman Stephanie Byster to score what would be the game-winning run. Junior Samantha Johnston added an insurance run in the third when she scored on a wild pitch after reaching on a single. Adelphi picked up two more runs in the sixth inning as junior Kristin Brennan and Brophy each scored.

Freshman Leighann Bell was credited with the shutout, allowing five hits with four strikeouts.

The Panthers are back in action this Saturday, April 26, when they host Bridgeport in their last regular season home contest. First pitch is slated for 1:00 p.m.
