April 25, 2005 Springfield, Mass. - It was an early wake-up call and a long day but it was all worth it as the Panthers finished second at the AIC Spring Tournament losing to Division I Dartmouth in the final. The Panthers finished sixth in Pool Play with a record of 6-4 and faced NYIT in the quarterfinals, taking them down in a very tight match. In the semi finals, Adelphi faced rival Bridgeport and the game was tight most of the way but Adelphi opened up a six-point lead which they never relinquished to advance into the finals. Unfortunately, that's where the ride ended as Dartmouth proved to be too much for the Panthers to capture the crown. The tournament also marked the final appearance of senior Libero Sharon Ribera. She had a great tournament providing great defense and quality passing as she did all year. The Panthers also got great play out of sophomore middle blocker Kelly Campbell and junior opposite Jessica Haynes. The next action for the Panthers is the 2005 season opener down in Pensacola, Florida. |
