Garden City, N.Y. - The Adelphi University volleyball team has been selected second in a preseason poll of the East Coast Conference Coaches. The Panthers (27-8, 7-2 ECC) earned the program's first ever NCAA berth in 2007, while placing second in the conference. Three-time defending regular season champion Dowling College was tabbed first ovaerll after finishing 39-7 and 9-0 in ECC in 2007. The C.W. Post Pioneers (6-3 ECC, 17-16 overall) slot in at #3. Senior middle blocker Enobong Shammah of Queens College was named ECC Volleyball Preseason Player of the Year. She averaged 3.79 kills per game with a .380 attack percentage. Shammah was a wall at the net averaging .66 blocks per game and pitched in with .7 digs per game to earn a spot on the 2007 ECC All-Conference Second Team. The Panthers open the season on August 29 in Gaffney, South Carolina against Elizabeth City State at 3:00 pm. 2008 Volleyball Preseason Poll |
